چکیده

The viscosity n of Fe,O, ferrofluid at volume concentrations in the range t = 0.0-0.013 are measured. The corresponding range of values of q is 1.6-1.8 cp. A linear relationship exists between the relative viscosity and the concentration of the fluid. Measurements of relative resistivity of Fe,O, ferrofluid at various concentrations (E = 0.00526-0.0526) are also reported. The relative resistivity is taken with respect to the resistivity of the highest value of concentration available (e = 0.0526) which is 2.05~ 10h R-m. The results show that the relative resistivity is inversely proportional to the concentration of the fluid. The variation of the resistivity with applied magnetic field is also presented. Measurements of the surface tension of Fe,O, ferrofluid show a continuous increase with increasing concentration and have values ranging from 25.0 to 26.63 dyn/cm in the concentration range E = 0.0-0.0.526.

Surface tension measurement techniques of magnetic fluids at an interface between different fluids using perpendicular field instability

Two measurement techniques to determine the surface tension of ferrofluids using the perpendicular field instability are described. Four ferrofluid layers were examined with magnetic field applied perpendicularly to the surface of s1d oil-based ferrofluid in air; s2d water-based ferrofluid in air, s3d oil-based ferrofluid, and s4d fluorocarbon-based ferrofluid, both below a blend of 50% n-Propy...

Ultrasound velocimetry of ferrofluid spin-up flow measurements using a spherical coil assembly to impose a uniform rotating magnetic field

Ferrofluid spin-up flow is studiedwithin a sphere subjected to a uniform rotatingmagnetic field from two surrounding spherical coils carrying sinusoidally varying currents at right angles and 901 phase difference. Ultrasound velocimetry measurements in a full sphere of ferrofluid shows no measureable flow. There is significant bulk flow in a partially filled sphere (1–14 mm/s) of ferrofluid or ...

Sonochemical formation of iron oxide nanoparticles in ionic liquids for magnetic liquid marble.

Ionic liquids (ILs)-stabilized iron oxide (Fe(2)O(3)) nanoparticles were synthesized by the ultrasonic decomposition of iron carbonyl precursors in [EMIm][BF(4)] without any stabilizing or capping agents. The Fe(2)O(3) nanoparticles were isolated and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and susceptibility measurements. The physicochemical properties of ILs...

Ferrofluid Flow and Torque Measurements in

The purpose of this research is to provide data from ferrofluid flow and torque measurements in uniform and nonuniform rotating magnetic fields that can be compared to theoretical analyses in order to fully understand observed paradoxical ferrofluid behavior. In the presence of rotating magnetic fields, ferrofluid particles will rotate to try to align their magnetic moment with the field but be...

Determination of Surface Tension and Viscosity of Liquids by the Aid of the Capillary Rise Procedure Using Artificial Neural Network (ANN)

The present investigation entails a procedure by which the surface tension and viscosity of liquids could be redicted. To this end, capillary experiments were performed for porous media by utilizing fifteen different liquids and powders. The time of capillary rise to a certain known height of each liquid in a particular powder was recorded. Two artificial neural networks (ANNs) were...
